After sending a recorded delivery complaint to eBuyer some time last week they have emailed (stamps obviously cost too much) a response to me today. I still have a burning question left unanswered though; should I have had to go through this shit anyway?!

eBuyer respond!
Thursday, June 29th, 2006Sending CDO.Message with importance
Friday, June 9th, 2006Here’s a script, well, a subroutine I wrote today for sending an email with VBSCript using the CDO.Message and CDO.Configuration COM Controls available in Windows. Having struggled a little to actually get it working (mainly through utter stupidity), I thought I’d blog it for anyone else struggling or just needing a quick fix.

Samsung saga continued…
Wednesday, June 7th, 2006This just gets better and better, how many blog posts have I got on the go due to crappy service of one sort or another? I seem to attract stupidity.
I got the screws from Samsung, four of them, but there’s one problem, well, four of them. They’re pan-head self tapping screws, you know, the kind that you would use to screw two bits of wood together. (more…)
eBuyer saga continues..
Wednesday, June 7th, 2006Just a quicky update. eBuyer have still not bothered to respond to me with what they intend to do but I have had a very constructive conversation with a helpful lady from Consumer Direct.
She suggested that I send a recorded delivery letter to eBuyer’s head office advising them of their breach of contract, which is effectively what this whole issue is, a contract breach.
I’ve drafted the letter and will polish it up sometime this week. The sticky K key on my keyboard is causing me no end of grief! I’ll post the letter here once I’ve finished it.

The Pirate Bay (English Translation)
Thursday, June 1st, 2006I stumbled across an excellent blog of a Swedish guy who is very kindly translating a lot of Swedish articles about the recent shutdown of The Pirate Bay.
While I have my own opinions on this. Something or someone needs to burn for the indiscriminate removal of hardware that has no connection with The Pirate Bay. I’ve been losing faith in our own government for years but just because a group of companies in the US whinge about another group in a completely different country, they can affect people powerful enough to completely disregard the law. The gradual removal of our rights here in the UK and the continual disregard and disrespect for the law that so many of these media companies seem to be showing is having a very very serious affect on my generation and I am thoroughly pissed off with it.

Samsung LCD TV VESA bracket manufacturing defect
Thursday, June 1st, 2006I recently bought a brand spanking new Samsung HD Ready 26inch LCD TV (LE26R74BDX) for myself to bring myself in to the digital age and spent a pretty penny doing so.
I bought it from digiuk and got it for a little over £620.00 including delivery. Their service was spot on, it was here next day and I can’t fault them at all. My thanks to digiuk for their service.

Next task was positioning. This TV is for my bedroom and given that my bed is quite tall the TV position needs to be a decent height so I can see it properly. So off I trotted to rs100 and bought a VESA 200×100 compatible mounting bracket so that I could adjust where necessary. That too cost me a few quid and, along with the stud finder that I had to purchase so I knew where to mount the bracket, the total package has set me back about £750.00.
So would I expect a problem after spending that much money? No. Alas, with today’s piss poor customer service I shouldn’t really expect manufacturing and quality control personnel to give a toss about a TV.
